Australia and New Zealand’s latest reports on their geospatial governance advances were submitted in 2011 to the United Nations’ Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) unit (at the UN’s Department of Statistics in New York).

Neither report mentions the Virtual Australia and New Zealand vision, which has been discussed in spatial information academic circles since the mid 2000s. The first public conference for the VANZ project was held in Sydney 13-14 May 2013.

The Australian report was prepared by Greg Scott of Geoscience Australia.

The New Zealand report was submitted by Sue Gordon of Land Information New Zealand.
